PHE Skid Packages for Zig Zag Building
The Zig Zag Building comprises of 187,000 sq. ft of high-end commercial office space on an island site surrounded by restaurants, retail, and an imaginative new public realm.
Providing an imaginative take on traditional architectural values, every element of the building’s design has been considered and crafted, from secure parking to spectacular terraces and shower facilities, to smart heating and cooling.
The customer required heating and cooling solutions for the Zig Zag Building, which would be both energy efficient and supply sufficient hot water as and when required.
The instantaneous delivery of hot water was a key requisite of the customer, hence the decision to use Plate Heat Exchangers within the packages to allow hot water on demand and without the need for preheating.
The solution
We supplied ten plate heat exchanger, Bespoke PHE Skid Packages, which were mounted on a common Mild Steel Skid Base. The skid packages were designed in house and tailored to the specific needs of the building, taking into consideration peak times for hot water usage and heating requirements. The units also incorporated interconnecting pipework.
