The brief:

K West Hotel were having problems with their hot water supply due to the age of the vessel which was rusting and problems with the leaking of water from the bottom of the calorifier. Too old and damaged to be repaired, the outdated calorifier needed to be replaced.

However, access to the plantroom was problematic, due to the Hotel been built around the plantroom when it was originally constructed.

To complicate matters further, another problem was the restrictions in the size of the new vessel due to the size of the lift, which at 760mm wide x 1200mm deep, wasn’t large enough to accommodate another fully assembled replacement vessel.

The solution

The solution
Ormandy Rycroft resolved the issue by building the 1700 Litre stainless steel vessel in sections, enabling it to be designed and fabricated at our factory, specifically for a given application and delivered in four sections to the hotel plantroom. Only at this stage it is reassembled and commissioned on the customer’s site.

This is a problem that exists for many businesses, where access from the roadside to the plantroom has access limitations. It is also where Ormandy’s bespoke manufactured vessels come into their own. As one of only a handful of suppliers in the UK to manufacture sectional vessels, Ormandy’s expertise has helped hundreds of businesses overcome difficult situations when they need replacement vessels but are faced with the dilemma of how to get it there.

Our team take into consideration any restrictions such as narrow corridors, space restrictions and small doorways, as well as existing equipment, which has been added over the subsequent years following the placement of the original vessel.

All vessels are manufactured and designed to British Standards, PED, and Building Regulations.
