CHW & LTHW FOR A PRESTIGIOUS DEVELOPMENT
21 Moorfields is a large commercial office space development on a 1.9-hectare site in London. Ormandy designed and produced Thermal Interface Units (TIU) offsite to provide CHW and LTHW services for the 564,000 sq. ft building.
Performance specification & physical footprint was demanding with consideration factors including:
· Building height & difference in static pressure across Plate Heat Exchangers.
· Spatial/weight constraints and movement on site.
· The required CHW/LTHW load and load variation across the north/south facing aspect of the building as the south required larger cooling and lower heating loads due to solar gains.
· Incorporating package controls to integrate into BMS.
Due to special constraints and high primary static pressure, Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers were chosen which are more rigid and compact than a traditional PHE & resulted in less isolation valves.
Consistency was key across multiple units for a cost-effective solution, with connections on top of the unit for ease of install and changes in the locations of riser pipework.
As our part of the project now nears the final stages, we look forward to its completion and are proud to have played a significant part.
